These DIY Washer Necklaces are super simple, quick, and FABULOUS to create! If I didn’t love rambling so much…and over-thinking the EASIEST of projects….I could post pictures and you’d totally get the step-by-step instructions with no text necessary. But there are always valuable TIPS that I need to share (probably more for MY benefit that yours), so on to the instructions…
Let’s Do This!
Supplies:
-
Washers – various sizes, you decide!
-
Decorative papers & pictures – the possibilities are OH SO ENDLESS!
-
Craft glue – I LOVE Aleene’s Craft Glue
-
Glaze – my favorite is Glossy Accents by Inkssentials
-
Chain, wire, cording, etc. to finish your amazing creation
So, easy-peasy directions, for sure.
Find your favorite washers (don’t kid yourself…..you DO have favorites) and adhere your favorite papers/pictures (ditto on the last comment) with the craft glue.
Let it dry! I know you’ll be tempted to just move on to the “GLAZE” stage, but FIGHT IT! The paper needs to dry completely so the glaze will dry correctly. So….go for a run. Make cookies. Read the next 3 chapters of your book. Meditate. Just W.A.I.T.
Once you have waited…and waited…and waited some more (it’s really not that long), trim the paper from the edges of the washer. To cut the middle of the washer, I like to push a pencil through, then trim as needed. NOW you can add the glaze. Rock on, superstar washer-into-pendant-maker.
You have to wait again. I know. It builds character. But let it dry.
ONE LAST STEP!!
Add your chain or cording…..and you’re DONE! How exciting was THAT little toolbox to jewelry box transformation?! So simple….and the results are super cute. You can put more than one on a necklace – washers come in so many sizes it’s super cute to use two or three washers and “waterfall” the largest to smallest. This is a great project for young artists, too….super simple and fun for parties, sleepovers, or a rainy day.
I love this craft so much I cannot wait to try it! (DIY washer necklace)
