Do you ever see something you HAVE to HAVE….then look at the price tag, and say to your awesome self, “I can TOTALLY make that!”? That is exactly what happened when I saw this whimsical flower lamp in Pottery Barn Kids. I knew it would be perfect in my daughter’s room, but I could make it for A LOT less using flowers from my local craft store and lamp I picked up on clearance. [Read more…]
I’m SO not a scrapbooker – but I DO love making collage creations out of paper and little found objects. There is also something warm and comfortable about old books, so combining printed word with watercolor, buttons, colored pencil and other personal touches is a great way to create an original piece of art! These are the perfect handmade gift for any little girl. The felt rosettes are so soft, and the felt-covered clippies don’t pull on precious little locks of hair. I made quite a few of these for my oldest daughter (when she FINALLY started to grow hair), and she still wears them today (she is 8-yrs old). This is a super cute and easy project to make for everyone on your gift-giving list! I usually make at least a dozen of these adorable little chapstick holders when I sit down to sew them because they are SO easy and quick to create…..and I love having them on hand for last-minute gifts. They’re perfect for clipping on backpacks, gym bags and purses, especially during the winter months when we ALL search for lip balm.
